What is the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering?

The Great Alaska Aviation Gathering is one of the largest and most exciting aviation events in Alaska. Held at the state fairgrounds and Palmer airport, it attracts over 20,000 aviation enthusiasts, professionals, and hobbyists from across Alaska, the Lower 48, and beyond. Whether you're a seasoned pilot, a weekend flyer, or just someone who loves the hum of an aircraft engine, there’s something for everyone. There is no fee for admission and you can expect to see aircraft displays, flight demonstrations, and vendor booths showcasing the latest in aviation gear, services, and—of course—art. It’s an incredible celebration of aviation culture, and I’m so excited to be part of it this year!

Our Booth at the Gathering: Aviation Art & More!

Alow & Aloft is a two-part creative venture inspired by my love of both the sea and the sky. The "alow" side features maritime themes like classic sailing vessels, deep-sea diving, and nautical symbols, while the "aloft" side celebrates aviation, from vintage warbirds to rugged bush planes.

Since the Aviation Gathering is all about flight, we’ll be focusing on the "aloft" side of our collection! I'll have a selection of original pen-and-ink illustrations that highlight the history and artistry of aircraft that have shaped aviation in Alaska and beyond. Each piece tells a story, and I can’t wait to share them with you in person.

What We’ll Be Selling

Our booth will feature a variety of aviation-inspired merchandise, including:

  • Hats featuring original aircraft designs

  • Stickers for your water bottle, logbook, or toolbox

  • Coffee mugs for early flights or long hangar days

  • Water bottles to keep you hydrated while you explore the show

Featured Aircraft: Classic Warbirds & Bush Planes

We’re bringing a lineup of some of my favorite aircraft illustrations—each chosen for its iconic design, historical significance, or deep connection to aviation in Alaska.

WWII Warbirds

  • TBM Avenger – A formidable torpedo bomber with a pivotal role in naval battles during WWII.

  • B-17 Flying Fortress – One of the most iconic bombers of WWII, famous for its durability and strategic importance.

  • P-47 Thunderbolt – A powerful fighter aircraft, renowned for its ruggedness and combat effectiveness.

  • SR-71 Blackbird – A high-speed, high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, still admired for its technological feats and sleek design.

Aviation Art: Capturing the Spirit of Flight

Each aircraft in my collection is an original illustration in pen-and-ink, with careful attention to the details that make it truly unique—whether it’s the rugged stance of a bush plane or the bold lines of a WWII bomber.

These illustrations are more than just technical drawings—they’re a tribute to the spirit of flight. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, a history lover, or someone who simply finds beauty in the skies, there’s something here that speaks your language.
